A bill of detainment has been served on thpi steamer Port Lyttelton by the Department of Navigation, and the vessel -will be unable to leave Sydney till this is lifted. During the past fortnight the ship has been undergoing a minute examination by divers. ARMED ROBBERY. SYDNEY, Juno 24. Two armed masked men. gained admittance to a house at Randwick and held up tlie two women open pants at the point of the revolver and robbed them of jewellery valued at £155. They then decamped. STORM IN TASMAN SEA. t MELBOURNE, June 24. • Violent weather is being experienced around the coast, and anxiety is felt for the safety of the steamer Inga, which, timber-laden from New Zealand, is coming across the Tasman. She would meet the full force of the storm. Although due oil Saturday, there were no signs of her last- evening. The ship is not fitted with wireless. It is thought that possibly she will be sheltering. UNION REQUEST REFUSED. t PERTH, June 24. A representative., of the Seamen’s Union visited the Commonwealth lighthouse steamer Kyogle which was recently held up in. Sydney for some Weeks, and requested the firemen and seamen to leave the vessel. The; men refused the request, stating that' they were paid award rates.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
