CLASHING OF SHOW DATES.
DISCUSSED AT A. AND P CONFERENCE. At the annual conference of the New Zealand Agricultural and Pastoral Associations at Palmerston North on Thursday, Mr. Walsh (Pahiatua) moved as follows in regard to the clashing of show dates: “That this conference seriously consider the best means to be adopted to prevent, or at least to minimise, the persistent clashing of A. and P shows.” The chairman said the executive recognised that the remit was an important one, but, he pointed out, there was a. good deal of difficulty ahead of it. However, they were of the opinion that the difficulty could be solved. He thought that th<? matter should he referred back to the executive, so that they might be able to formulate an amicable scheme whereby thev could prevent the clashing of show dates. Mr. Hall (Taranaki) said that in laianaki they could decide twelve months ahead when they were going to hold their show. For a period of twenty years, he explained, the Poultry Associations had prevented this claslimg, and the A. and P. Societies should he able to do the same
Mr. Stuckey said he would like the matter referred to the executive, so that they could go thoroughly into it. Mr. Quigley said that the itinerary should be arranged so that stock could he transferred from show to s how, without being taken home on each occasion. Mr. Dermer thought the matter should be gone into, but if there were too many shows they could not avoid this clashing. , Mb Walsh considered that the mat•c61 ’ dld not require much .solvingand if they could get representatives of the vVaipukurau, Horowhenua, and Pahintua Associations together they might be able to prevent their fixtures clashing as they dick After further discussion the remit was referred to the executive for consicleration.
