+ BRILLIANT STUDENT RUINED BY DRUGS. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) BLENHEIM, June 19. Herbert Arthur Maekie, appeared before Mr. T. E. Mansell, S.M., on a charge of vagrancy. It was stated that Maekie was 28 years of age and' had matriculated when 14. He was addicted to drugs and was found under the influence of drugs in a whare at Riverlands. Recently the premises of two Blenheim chemists were entered at night, hut the tills were not touched. The police inferred that Maekie" had entered the premises in search of drugs. The police withdrew the charge of vagrancy on condition that Maekie entered the Nelson Mental Hospital as a voluntary boarder
