MANAIA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) FARMERS’ UNION. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Manaia branch of the New Zealand barmens’ Union was held on Saturday last. Mr J. T. Clague occupied the chair. Messrs N. Gane, T. Allan and C. McDonald were, on the motion of Mr E. J. Betts, elected members of this branch of the union. The chairman remarked that it was a matter for congratulation the keen interest and number of new members secured by Mr E. J. Betts since this branch was formed. Delegates from Manaia branch to Taranaki Provincial Conference, held at Patea on May 22, submitted it he it- report, which showed that all remits sent in. from here received favourable eonsideration and were carried. A hearty vofc of thanks was passed to Mr J. \V. Deem for judging in root crop competitions. Messrs C. Jones, J. T. Clague and J. Dakers were elected a committee to consider whether the prize-giviim should take the form of a farmers’ bah or social evening. They are to submit their decision to next meeting. The new secretary (Mr J. Dakers) was instructed by tHe meeting to write to all members who are in arrears with subscriptions to pay same in the near iuture or send in their resignations in writing, in order that some finality will be reached in this respect.
