MEETING OF COUNCIL. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS association.) Wellington, June is. The Council of Education commenced its sittings to-day, Mr Caughley, Director of Education, presiding. Two committees were appointed to deal with the majority of the items on the order paper, and other matters, it was decided, will be discussed by the Council as a w r hole. A proposal that an educational week should be held in Wellington towards the end of the present year in order to increase public interest in education was placed before the Education Board to-day by the Director of the'Wellington Technical College, Mr Howell, who suggested that a conference of educational bodies might be held to consider the matter. After disfcussion, the board agreed to call a conference.
