♦ (From Our Own Correspondent.) SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the School Committee was hold lost night in the C.E.M.S. rooms. Those present were : Messrs Ira .1. Bridget' (chair), AY.■ S. Heye.s (secretary), E. F. Alaynard, L. Hobson, J. McKay, F. L. Michel. L. Rowe, and the headmaster (Mr E. Wary).

The headmaster reported that since hist report the board had established rural science classes, and they required the joom that has been occupied hv the Standard VI. children. This class has had to he accommodated in the main school building. Consequently the school was now overcrowded and difficult to organise. In reply to a question hy Mr McKav, the chairman stated that* no reply had been received from the board to his recent enquiry concerning the new school, lie stated that this was not the first time that it was necessary to complain concerning the unwarrantable delay in receiving replies from the Taranaki Education Hoard.—Members of the committee expressed strong disapproval of the apparent inattention to letters on important matters, and on the motion of Messrs McKav and Michel it was decided to refer the matter to the 'sollth Taranaki School Committees’ Association for attention.

, The headmaster also reported that some persons had broken into the school and had stolen several valuable articles from the office, and also a large bunch of keys.

The chairman stated that the matter was in the hands of the police, and 110 ctoubt the culprits would be caught. It was decided to fit a new lock” on the office door. The visiting committee reported that the down pipes and drains at f&e Technical School were in a had condition, and urgent attention was necessary.—The matter was referred to the local plumbers, with instructions to proceed with the necessary work. The chairman stated that the new •su mg and see-saw had been erected, and the horse paddock had been shifted, and more playing area had been provided by the new arrangement.
