Q . FARMERS’ UNION. MONTHLY MEETING. There was a good attendance of members last evening at the monthly meeting of t-lip- Malapn branch' of the Farmers’ Union. Mr. 11. Free (president) occupied the chair. ‘GENERAL. Minutes of the Dominion , executive meeting, held on Glh and 7th May, were received and tabled. The chairman congratulated' members upon the excellent results obtained in the root crops competition, the average yield obtained being the highest in the provincial branch competitions. Air. AY. T. Seed referred to the union meeting to he held in Hawera. on June 24 for the purpose of electing the provincial executive committee and president. He considered that the branch should be represented.—The chairman rquestod that all members who were able to do so should attend. Air. K. Shprpe. who was nominated by Air. L. Precce, was elected as a member of the branch. It was decided that a- visit be paid by branch members to the Stratford demonstration farm on a date to be arranged.

SCHOOL, CHILDREN'S COMPETITIONS. Air. AY. T. Seed intimated that the judging in the root crops and calf--1 caring competitions, open to pupils of Ibn .Mata pu School, would probably take place during the week. —Consideration was given to the question of presenting prizes to the winning and placed competitors, and ..subscriptions were donated to the prize fund a® I'MCw.
