Manawatu was well beaten by Poverty Bay in the representative match at Palmerston North yesterday, the score being: Poverty Bay 20, Manawatu 9. Poverty Bay was a much heavier side, and raked Manawatu fore and aft, the home fifteen putting up a very weak defence.
LEAGUE FOOTBALL. AUSTRALIANS v. AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, June 14. The concluding match of the Australian Universities’ League touring team against Auckland was played at Carlaw Park to-day in fine weather, but the ground was heavy. The game resulted in a draw, 14 points all. QUEENSLAND v. ENGLAND. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT BRISBANE, June 15. There was fine weather for the Rugby League game, in which Queensland defeated England by 25 points to 10, after a wretched exhibition of football. ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL. CANADA BEATS AUSTRALIA. SYDNEY, June 15. In the second soccer test match Canada defeated Australia by one goal to nil after a hard and fast but unattractive game.
