KAPUNI.

RAILWAY BALL. A happy throng of approximately 200 dancers liom all parts of the district, attended the railway ball held at Kapuni last evening, and owing to tne excellence of the arrangements made by the general committee, under the supervision of its capable hon. secretary, Mr C. Denman, the function achieved an outstanding success. The peifectiyconditioned floor, together with, the uighiy-appreeiated dance music rendeied by Vinsen’s :azK orchestra, enabled tne full enjoyment of a wellbalanced programme of old and new dances, 'the dance hall and supperroom were tastefully decorated overhead with festooned streamers, the colour scheme being effected with a harmonising blending of paie blue and gold, thrown into pleasing relief by the profusion of ferns and greenery which adorned the walls. The effect produced (which was arranged by Mesdames Sherlock, Whalen, Martin, Fitzgerald, and 1* orsyth), lent an added attraction to the evening’s festivities' and was greatly admired. A delectable supper was provided, under arrangement, by the Stratford Marble Bar caterers, who supplied an abundance of dainty edibles. A busy committee of ladies waited upon the guests at the tables. Messrs C. Paterson, H. Whalen and Eddie Scott, who officiated as M’s.C., gave efficient attention to their duties, and maintained interest at? concert pitch until the gathering dispersed in tfie small hourstof the morning.
