The Napier Old Boys played a match against Wanganui, at Wanganui, defeating the home team by 13 points to 8. Kia Ora defeated Tukapa at New Plymouth, by II points to 9. The Rovers in their match against Petone, at the Ridge, on Saturday, scored a victory by the narrow margin of one point, 13 to 12. Neither side had full senior learns, and had to play a few juniors. Petone had much the best of the first spell, a good breeze in their favour and the sun at their backs, assisting them materially. For the winners, W. O'Neill, Heeney and Wall scored tries, two of which were converted. Petone scored by the aid of Hardham (2) and Ryan (I). One try was converted, and a penalty goal was kicked by Ryan, making 12 points.

j The combination of Kenyon, Spiers land Wall helped the Rovers considerably, and among the forwards Heeney, Thow, and O'Neill were conspicuous. Mr R. Henderson was referee. The Rovers' juniors were easily defeated b/ the Selwyn juniors on Saturday. The Petone and Selwvn footballers were driven to Clive Grange beach on Sunday, but the day's enjoyment was marred by the downpour of rain.
