HAWICE'S BAY JOCKEY CLUB. Nominations for the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's autumn meeting will close on Friday, the l6th instant.

WAIPUKURAU JOCKEY CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Waipukurau Jockey Club was held yesterday, and proved in everyway successful and enjoyable. The weather was fine, although occasionally overcast, and the attendance probably numbered over 2000. Owing to the heavy rain of the previous afternoon and night, the ground was a trifle sloppy and the course greasy. In all £6910 passed through the totalisator, as compared with £6260 on the sime day last year, a satisfactory increase considering that the attendance was smaller. Eight bookmakers were on the ground at a fee of £ls ioseach. One of these gentlemen had to retire after the VVaipukurau Handicap, owing to his inability to pay out in full on the winner. Mobbing was threatened, but prompt action on the part of the police prevented serious trouble. The events resulted as follows Maiden Plate: Mundic I, Mediterranean 2, The Limit 3. Also started : Waratah, Miimoe, Merriment, 'vii, Atanui, Amato,, sity, Parable Turqu.eena, Appin. Mundic quickly established a strong lead, which he maintained to the finish, winning easily by about'eight lengths. Easter Handicap: Paisano I, Seaton Dale 2, Highden 3. Also ran : Golden Gate, Chicane, Sir Possible. Won by a neck. Time, 2.7. Hack Handicap : Nadine I, Awha 2. Nero 3. Also starred: Parable Forest, Polynices,Wonderbohm, Icel, Water o' Milk. Won by a length. Time ?.20 2-sth. Waipukurau Handicap : Berengaria I, Chamois 2, Sir Possible 3. Also started : Hipporofla and Lamsdorff. From a beautiful start Sir Possible immediately rushed to the front, closely attended by Lamsdorff and Berengaria passing the stand the first time. Going up the back stretch Sir Possible increased his lead, but on reaching the hill there was little to choose between the field. Entering the straight Sir Possible still led, but Berengaria was soon alongside him, and drawing away she won easily by three lengths Chamois beating Sir Possible by a length for second place, Hipporofla fourth, Lamsdorff last. Time, 2.i9 3-ssec. Two-year-old Handicap, 4 furlongs: Bliss I, Scots Fusilier 2, Ideate 3. Also started : Seraphic, Ariom, Bridge. Reformist, Ruapare. . Seraohic was first to show out, and held his advantage until well down the straight, but Bliss put in a fine run, Scots Fusilier and Ideate also making their efforts at the same time. Bliss won comfortably by two lengths, a neck between second and third. Time 53secs. Ladies' Handicap: Pikopo I, azon 2, Monsieur Beaucaire 3. Also started Aroha, Nero. Jet de More, Hopeful, Water o' Milk, Konini 11., Waratah. Corazon was in the lead to the distance, when he was displaced by Pikopo, the latter winning" by a couple of lengths. Monsieur Beaucaire was a good third. Time 2.54Flying Handicap: North Head I, Chamois 2, Voetgang 3. Also 1 started, Hipporofla, King's Lynn, Pearl Reef. North Head led all the way, and won comfortably by a length, Chamois beating Voetgang by a long neck. Ti ue 1.20 2-5. Final Hack Handicap: The' Limit 1 1, Illustrious 2, Mayflower 3. The weather was beautiful to dajr for the opening of the Canterbury Jockey Club's autumn meeting. The course was in first class order. Armlet's time in the Great Easter Handicap beat Savoury's Australasian record by one-fifth of a second, and she won very easily, though evidently tiring at the finish. Provocation's win in the Champagne Stakes established his claim to be regarded as the best two-year-old of the season, and he also established a new record, beating the best previous time for the race by one-fifth of a second. *T;| O'Connell, who rode Stronghold in *the Hurdle Race, had a very bad spill, and was removed in an unconscious state-to the Christchurch Hospital. Four bookmakers are licensed inside and seven outside. Results : Denbigh Stakes: Mon Ami I, Hermia 2, Toa Tuhi 3, Scratched : Sandstream. Mon Ami and Hermia led all the way. Won easily by three lengths. Time, 1.16. Awahuri Hack Welter: Clertiora I, Midian 2, Canadian 3. Also started, Mississippi. Won comfortably by half a length. Time 2.2 3-5. Kimbolton Hurdles: Maidi I, Whatakura 2, Reokby 3. Scratched Xavier. Showman and Paparaehi led for the first mile, then Maidi took the lead and won by a length. Sedan led to nearing the turn, when "Willy Wally went to the front and won by lengths. Time: 2.23 4-5 sees. Great Eastern Steeples.—Work- i master I, Reindeer 2, Seymour 3, Workmaster went to the front early in the race and Reindeer held a slight advantage.
