A fanatical rising among the mollahs of the Mohammedan section of the population on the Malabar coast has been suppressed with little bloodshed and the leaders captured. Sept. 10. The Indian Government has sent a letter to the Ameer of Afghanistan stating that the military operations on the Indian frontier are intended as a punishment of Hadda, the mollah, and his followers. It is not proposed to interfere with the independence of the frontier tribes or permanently occupy the territory. **
The Khans of Nawagi and Manda will assist in Brigadier-General Ellis's expedition against the rebellious Mohmunds.

Albert Trott, whom it was recently reported would spend the winter in London, has been engaged by the Pretoria (Transvaal) Cricket Club for five months at £3O monthly, the club paying all his expenses. Sept. 10.
The Queen in a message to Earl Cadogan, Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland, expresses herself greatly pleased with the loyal and kind reception to the Duke and Duchess of York. Her Majesty asked that the message be made generally known. Caibq. Sept. 10.
The evacuation of Berber by the Dervishes has caused great excitement amongst the natives, and many tribes are anxious to join the British forces.
