The second reading was carried by 47 to 21. Then Mr Lyne wished to get the Committee consideration postponed till next sitting. The Acting-Premier refused. Thereupon Mr Lyne dramatically informed the Chamber that he washed his bando of the whole muddle, and left the Chamber, followed by most of his party.
