Christchurch Notes.
[By Telegraph] [Special to Standard.] Christchurch, This day The New Zealand Racing Conference meets this afternoon. The weather to-day is cloudy and threatening. The only attraction is the Lancaster Park Trotting meeting. Tom Pollard of the Opera Company presented the rider of Lady Zetland with a gold-mounted whip and his wife with a cheque. Mr Pollard and his brother landed a good stake over the mare's win.
Several cases of pocket-picking are reported from the racecourse yesterdav.
At the S.M. Court to-day two men named James Levy and Martin Webster were charged with stealing a totalisator ticket valued at £9 2s, from Robert McAllister on the racecourse yesterday, and they were committed for trial.
