Loni'PN, Oct. 11. Sir William Harcourt denies the rumor that he intends to resign. Sir Michael Hicks-Beach, Chancellor of the Exchequer, declares the capture of Dongola to be the stepping stone into Khartoum when financial obstacles have been removed. Mr Piayford retains the AgentGeneralship of South Australia till June. Ernest Hoadley, of Derby, who made a gigantic fortune out of cycle tires, has purchased the patent rights of Borril for two millions. Cairo, Oct. 15. It is reportc<\ that the Arab chief Bishari died in the desert during the retreat from Dongola. Pretoria, Oct. 15. Press and alien laws are being promulgated in the Transvaal.
