The Frozen Meat Industry.

* THE STOCK COMMITTEE'S REPORT. (By Telegraph.) (From our Correspondent, j Wellington*, This day. The Stock Committee, who have for some weeks been engaged on important questions affecting the frozen meat and dairy industries, have, it is understood, approved of their subCommittee's report which recommends that legislation be introduced this session to provide—(l) As regards the inspection in the colony: Regulations respecting the killing of stock after driving ; as to the time when meat should be frozen, a certificate of which is to be produced at the ship's side before delivery is taken ; freezing chambers of the ships to be inspected and certified as being in proper order before the meat is shipped ; vessels to be fitted with selfregistering thermometer, a record of which is to be kept by the engineer and captain. (2) As to inspection : On arrival in London, a report to be prepared when damage has occurred of which notice be given. The report also suggests that dock companies should be induced to provide a store for selection of brands. (3) As to the railway carriage of frozen meat: An increase of rolling stock will be recommended, and more speedy trains will be recommended, as it is not considered that the present charges are excessive provided that additional facilities as mentioned above are granted.
