[By Gipsy Grand.] A large number of touts assembled on the racecourse this morning to witness the horses doing their morning gallops in view of forthcoming events, and right well pleased must they have been with the results accomplished. There were several good finishes fought out, and taken alto gether the work performed fully recompensed those who forsook " blanket flat " at such an early hour in the morning for the green sward of the racecourse. The first to move was Barshot, who accomplished once round at a good pace. Flaneur and Aphony each did a fast mile, and are looking fit enough to win a kingdom. Blackberry performed a mile and a half in a satisfactory manner. Popgun and Forest Rose were associated over a brush of six furlongs, the former having it all his own way at the finish. Tally-ho, looking really well, was sent a mile and a half at a good pace. Lotion and New Forest jumped off at top for a mile spin, and four furlongs from home were picked up by Jack Tar, the three horses finishing at top, Lotion having slightly the best of it. The surprise of the morning was the sensational trial done by Orion's Belt, who fairly romped away from Bonnie Scotland and The Possible in a mile and a quarter run, finishing in great style a circuit on the plough in luiin 45secs. In company with Mr Gollan's pair the Belt, with a fair weight up, jumped off at the mile and a quarter and picked up Rainbow at the six furlong post, the latter never even having a show with him. Coming on at top he raced away and finished the gallop of the season in the time stated. Neither Bonnie Scotland nor The Possible did themselves credit, though both are looking well. Although Orion's Belt is a better track performer than when under the colors, his ran must bring him into prominence ; and it is not at aH unlikely that he will be seen to advantage up the mile and a quarter this season. Ephimede did solo work several times round, and Gold Cup was exercised at three-quarter pace. Searchlight is still under a cloud, and until she is in full work again backers should be chary of her chances in the New Zealand Cup. It is understood that she has been backed to win a pot of money. On last season's performances she looked a really good thing; but her absence from the track gives rise to rumors that she is not herself at all. With more schooling Prince Cftariwshould prove a willing one over the sticks. He has pace enough, and with more confidence must have a chance in the Hurdles. Midas is era tic, as is evinced by her fall on Thursday; but with more work should train on better. Ormond's string was absent from the track this morning. It is understood that they 'vvere hard at it on the private course. New Forest is a perfect picture just now, and had be better understandings he would certainly command respect. A number of hunters and two-year-olds also put in an appearance, but they were mostly restricted to hall-pace work.
