SOLOMON ISLAND OUTRAGE.
FIVE MEN KILLED
Sydney, This day. Nothing official has transpired in connection with the Islands massacre, but it transpires that a man named Beaufort and three sailors lost their lives in a subsequent encounter with the natives, numbers of whom were killed.
Great difficulty was experienced in conveying the wounded men to the Albatross owing to the impenetrable nature of the scrub.
It is supposed the bodies of those killed were eaten.
The relief party were not able to get to the scene of the massacre to recover the bodies owing to the bad weather, and inability to secure guides.
