[From Our Own Correspondent.] Napier, September 2. Hastings residents can rely on a rare treat when McKenzie comes along. His entertainment will be found to be a decidedly good one. Although a big sea has been rolling in, the breakwater seems to have .stood further severe test without much knocking afeoiit, The Queers of the Napiep Garrison have warmly taken up the proposal to give a complimentary danee to the officers and men of H.M.S. Ringdove if the vessel can be detained. This is in keeping with the assistance to be given by the men-of-war at the Garrison promenade concert. Very little interest seems to be taken in civic affairs here, and yesterday the three retiring Cohen, Black, and Cranby-—were di<.• clared re-elected, owing to there being no opposition. The affiliation case which was before the S.M. yesterday was dismissed, as there "syas no evidence to prove that the defendant contemplated leaving the colony,
