Before the Banking Committee of the Council, Mr -J. G. Ward gave evidence vesterday, his examination being unconcluded when the Committee ad-

journed. As the Premier did not attend the Banking Committee this forenoon, Mr Booth was discharged from further attendance unless his recall at a later stage should be deemed necessary. Mr Watson was then called, but the Minister of Lands and Major Steward protested against his examination being proceeded with and retired, which left no quorum. Mr Montgomery, however, put one question to the President which places the witness to his charge when the Committee meet on Monday.
