Wellington, this day

Sir Robert Stout yesterday addressed the Court at length on behalf of Kirby, maintaining that there was no case against him. The Crown Prosecutor followed, and after discussion the jury, at the direction of the Chief Justice, brought in a verdict of not guilty, and Bassett was accordingly discharged, Kirby being returned to the cells on the previous charge.
