Hawke's Bay Trotting Club.
+ ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Hawke's Bay Trotting Club was held at Caulton's Hotel, last evening, Mr G. Ellis in the chair. The annual report for the year ending 31st July was read as follows In presenting the annual balance-sheet to the members of the Club, your Committee must congratulate them on the successful result of the year's work. It will be seen from the accompanying figures that the total receipts amounted to £722 18s, and the expenditure to £706 13s 3d, which amount includes a debit bank balance brought forward from last year of £6l l*2s 9d, which leaves a credit balance in the bank of £lO 4s 9d, the net profit- during the year being £77 17s 6d. The assets are set down at £4lO 10s 4d, and the liabilities nil. The Club during the past year' was represented by a delegate at a meeting held at Palmerston North of the various clubs in the North Island, when it was decided to form a North Island Trotting Association, and for the last two meetings this Club has run under its rules. Recently a meeting was called by the Canterbury Trotting Association in Wellington of all the Trotting Clubs in New Zealand. This Club was duly represented by a delegate. At that meeting it was decided to use and race under one set of rules through the colony, two associations to be acknowledged—the South Island Trotting Association and the North Island Trotting Association. This abolishes all difficulty which has hitherto existed, and which debarred horses from trotting only at meetings held by certain clubs. Horses can now compete at any meeting held in the colony rim under the rules adopted by the joint associations. It is now your duty to elect nine members of Committee for the ensuing year. For the Committee, W. Y. Dennett, Treasurer. The report was received and adopted. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows : President, Mr G. Ellis ; Vice-Presi-dent and Treasurer, Mr W. Y. Dennett; Committee, Messers W. C. Maddison, J. E. Mclvor, R. Gooseman, H. Collins, H. O. Caulton, Geo. Land, J. T. Blake, W. G. Faulknor, Judge, Alex. C. Lean ; Secretary, W. B. Ireland ; Handicapper, E. Elbourne. A meeting of the newly elected committee will be held on Monday evening next to arrange for the October meeting and. to make arrangements for the year.
