THE SITUATION IN CRETE.
+ THE PORTE INTENDS TO RESTORE PEACE. London, July 30. The Porte has notified Greece that unless the arming of Cretans is ceased he will allow the Turks to restore order. The Porte has also warned Greece that her permitting an armed band to enter Macedonia, and her attitude towards Crete, has endangered the peace of Europe.
