Hastings Fire Brigade.

MONTHLY MEETING

Tuesday. Junk 2xi>,

The ordinary monthly meeting of members of the above Brigade was held last night at the Brigade Hall, Market street. There was a good attendance. Captain Bransch occupied the chair.

The monthly report showed that one lire had taken place since last meeting, that of P>. L. Knight's premis-es, and that the Brigade had worked for four and a-half hours in extinguishing the fire.

Dr Faulkner tendered lib resignation as Brigade surgeon on account of his departure from the town. His resignation was received with regret. A cheque for three guineas was received from Mr Palmer in acknowledgement of services done by the Brigade some time ago at Herman's tire. The donor was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Mr 11. Hunt received a vote of thanks for papers forwarded to the Brigade's reading room. A vote of thanks was passed to Mi*3 Ilortop for her thoughtfulne-- in supplying the members with on the occasion of the recent fire. It was decided that the Brigade hold a social on Thursday, 18th inst. After considerable discussion it was agreed that members be charged the same amount for admittance to social as outsiders.

Mr Kingswell's account for. £1 is was passed for payment. Considerable discussion took place with reference to a certain member being unable to discover the whereabouts of portions of his uniform. It was the opinion of the Captain tliat if

members are unable to keep tb"ii uniforms secure in the shed the nui forms should be; taken home. This concluded the business.
