TRAINING ITEMS
[By Gipsy Grand.] The track was in splendid order this morning, and quite a large number of horses were out working. Capon Rouge and Chris were taken over the small hurdles together. Mutiny, with a light-weight, up, and The Phig jumped the big schooling fences in good style, both finishing -well together. Searchlight accomplished two circuits at strong pace. Lotion and Tally-ho were associated over a two-mile gallop, both moving very freely. Blarney, Glenfeldt, Heavenly Twin, Glengarry, Totoroa, Sparkle. \\ ikitoria, AUan-a-Dale, and a number of others, including the Hon. -J. D. Ormond's string, were also doing useful work. We regret to have to chronicle a very serious accident which happened to Mr T. H. Lowry's promising filly Bijou. It appears that she got away from the boy in charge of her, and ran into some barbed-wire fences, cutting herself severely. A horseman, in attempting to catch the filly, was unfortunate to collide with her, the result being that Bijou's shoulder was injured. A veterinary surgeon was soon in attendance, and the filly's injuries were found to be so severe, that not less than thirty stitches were required. From latest accounts the filly is progressing very favourably.
