Rowing Notes.

TRIAL FOURS—GREEN'S CREW WIN. [BT “ OUTHiaOBB.”j The first heat in the trial fours of the Gisborne Bowing Club took place on the Tarin heru river last evening, commencing about six o’clock. The two crews were under W. Green and G. A. Bourne (as previously published), F. O'Meara and T. Adair being the respective coxswains. Bourne’s crew were the favorites, having a great advantage in the way of experience, but as I pointed outi Green's crew, with attention to their work, would make it warm for their rivals, and warm they did make it, too. They had kept assiduously to their task, paying heed to their coach, and keeping up regular train. Bourne, on the other hand, had difficulty in getting his men together. A fair start was effected, the crews being even at the brewery. Bourne got slightly jambed in at the bend and at the footbridge Green had the lead! which he gradually increased, and had two lengths to the good when passing Grey street This was further increased as the winning post was reached, Green winning by an easy three lengths. The win was a popular one> the young team well deserving their victory. The final heat takes place at 5.30 this evening, Miller’s crew having to row the winners. Green's crew are now the favorites, but a good race may be expected.
