CRICKET.

E. C. HUSSABS V. CBICKET CLUB.

This match, which has been postponed from time to time on account of the weather, eventuated on Saturday afternoon. The day even then was not all that could be desired, for being dark and gloomy, with a bad light, and a bleak cold wind, it was not by any means cricket weather. At a quarter to three Casein and Day took the wickets for the Hussars, but the former soon made room for btaite, without scoring. Day soon followed Cassin’s example (owing to a very good throw in by Arundel), and A. Kees took his place. Staite and Bees quickly ran up the figures, each making a capital score before he was disposed of. Croft and Winter each made a stand but did not add many to the number. The first ball took Arthur, but Lysnar and Bullen did some hard hitting, the latter carrying his bat. The bowlers for the Club were W. L. Bees, Ballantyne, Johnstone, Arundel, Reardon, and Lewis. The Hussars having been in for nearly two hours, Reardon and Arundel went forth to battle for the Club, but a “ Y orker ’’ from L. Rees soon put a stop to the former. The light was wretchedly bad for the Club, getting worse as it got later. W. L. tiees took his place next and played a steady game for twelve.J Meantime Arundel having been “ Yorked ” by L. Rees, and Ballantyne, taking his place, returned one to the bowler off the handle of his bat. Johnstone played steadily and then made a good drive for three and with singles raised his score to seven, when he placed one in Arthur's hands. The remainder added few to the score and the whole team were disposed of under the hour for 33, thus leaving the Hussars the winners by 72 runs. The following are the scores:—
