U.S. KEEPING STRATEGIC DATA FROM SOVIET

(Rec. 10.15). WASHINGTON, Nov. 10. A voluntary plan to keep important American technical information from falling into undesirable hands abroad, was announced to-day by the U.S. Commerce Department. No countries were named, but any persons or firms, thinking of exporting "advanced technical data- which may be important to national security”, were asked to wait for “official opinion”.

The Department also placed another sixty classes of highly strategic goods under rigid export licence control. The aim is to prevent the reshipment from original destinations to the Soviet bloc.
