Bishop Barnes Wants British Pledge to Use No Atomic Bombs

(Rec. 7.30) LONDON, Nov. 11 The Anglican Bishop of Birmingham, Doctor Barnes, told his diocesan conference last night that Britain should pledge herself never to use atomic weapons. He said: “Let the pledge at first be unilateral. Our example, I am sure, would be a moral gesture rapidly followed by many nations. It would give us that moral stature which we are in danger of losing.”
