RUGBY LEAGUE WEST COAST BOARD OF CONTROL

The weekly meeting of the Board of Control of the West Coast Rugby League was held last evening, Mr J. Kidd presiding and the following being present:—Messrs P. Sweetman, N. Messenger, R. Lee, J. Griffin, L. Coffey and T. McKenzie (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Haddock and Meates.

Mr A. Kyle (proprietor of Shade’s Hotel, Christchurch), wrote congratulating the League on the behaviour of the various teams which were accommodated at his hotel during the season. Mi- Kyle also forwarded a donation to the League’s funds.

The Secretary advised that the Hornby fourth grade team would arrive on the express on Saturday to play the West Coast representatives at the week-end. The club requested that billets be arranged. It was decided to enlist the support of the club’s in the matter. Mr E. Henderson was appointed mangaer of the West Coast team and Mr L. Zampesi local manager of the Hornby team. The teams will assemble at Wingham Park at 1 p.m. J. Brown was appointed captain of the fourth grade representative team and D. Bowkett vice-captain.

It was decided that the Marist v. Blackball senior match to be replayed on Sunday, the winners to be matched with Runanga. for the Hopkin’s Cup on October 23.

Nelson Creek were declared winners of the senior reserve knock-out competition. The following fixtures were arranged for the week-end: — Senior:— t

Thacker Shield Challenge: Runanga v. Prebbleton (Canterbury), at Wingham Park at 2.45. Semi-final replay: Marist v. Blackball, at Wingham Park, No. 2, at 1.15. Fourth Grade:—

West Coast v. Hornby (Canterbury), at Wingham Park, No. 1, at 1.15.
