There were only three horses in the race and Monaveen, carrying top weight, was a hot favourite. Monaveen whd is jointly owned by the Queen and Princess Elizabeth, finished 15 lengths ahead of Random Knight. He was Princess Elizabeth’s second runner. Her first, at Astrakhan, finished second at Ascot last Friday. Princess Elizabeth was at Fontwell Park to see Monaveen win.
