BOXING N.Z. Championships To Be Held In Regent Theatre

Greymouth has been allocated the 1950 New Zealand boxing championships, and the local Association was immediately confronted with a problem to find a suitable hall. Quick foresight on the part of Mr A. Beban, who interviewed Mr R. J. Kerridge, has resulted in the Regent Theatre being made available. When the 1937 championships were held in Greymouth, over 100 boxers participated. Numerous managers, trainers, and delegates from various parts of New Zealand attended, making some 500 in all. Accommodation in the town was at a premium.

The championships will come under the jurisdiction of Mr Arty Beban, who as president of the New Zealand Boxing Association is making tentative arrangements.
