Seamen Threaten Action if Australian Communist Prosecuted
SYDNEY, March 23
The Seamen’s Union has threatened '’’industrial action” if L. L. Sharkey of the Communist Party is prosecuted under tlie Crimes Act. I’wo summonses alleging sbditioti:' utterances have 'been, served /> ’. Sharkey and the case is list, d 10-' hearing next Monday. In Canberra, the Prime Minister RE Hon. J. 13. Chifley, declined to comment on the resolution passed by the Combined Mining Unions' Conn cil. demanding that the Federal Government should withdraw the summonses and the repeal of the Crimea Act.
It is stated authoritatively that the prosecution will go on. '
