HEAVY RAIN DID LITTLE DAMAGE

Although heavy rain fell in Greymoucn yesterday little damage was done. The rain was not accompanied oy heavy wind and its worst result was the flooding or streets and the battering of plants in gardens. In Victoria Park several small boys enjoyed themselves yesterday afternoon sailing small boats. The depth of the water was knee-high on the boys. Rhe. heaviness of the showers yesterday is indicated by the fact that, oetween noon and 2.30 p.m., 1.48 inches, the greater part ot the day’s total- fell. Football fields were much the worst for the rain, however, and at Wing-, num Park, tne main ground was badiy churned up after two games had been played on it. The result was similar on other grounds on which football was played yesterday.
