TAXATION
Australian Pronosals
CANBERRA, Feb. 21.
“We have made certain promises on taxation, and the Labour Party has never broken its promises,” said Rt. Hon. J. M. Chifley, Prime Minister, in the Commonwealth House of Representatives. Members are not looking ahead as far as they might to realise the grave economic times in which we are living, and which might become more difficult. I am not making any promises at this stage, but, at the appointed hour, not undei' pressure from anybody, ample opportunity will be given to members of dealing with taxation.”
