The actual date is not yet finalised. A party of thirty children from Taylorville School, in charge of the Head'-teacher, Mr H. Turnbull, has returned from an excursion to the Industries Fair in Christchurch. The trip proved a most enjoyable and educational one for the children, many of whom were making their first visit to the city. The opportunity was taken of visiting many places of interest, including the Canterbury Museum, where the children were given lessons by Mr J. Southgate, (Educational Officer, attached to the Museum staff). A novelty was the snow at Arthur’s Pass and the children availed themselves of it to the utmost. The sincere thanks ‘of the pupils and of their parents, are extended to those Christchurch folk who ungrudgingly provided billets for those having no relatives or friends. On - Friday afternoon, Miss J. Bruce, who has been relieving assistant mistress at Taylorville school for the past term, was farewelled by the pupils. On behalf of the pupils, Valerie Menzies presented Miss Bruce with a farewll gift and wished her every success in the future.
