SHOT IN GERMANY.

(Rec. 11.40.) LONDON, May 19. It is now known that ten Royal Air Force officers were shot dead while attempting to escape from a German prisoners of wax- camp. The Government has asked the protecting Power, Switzerland, to make a.full inquiry into the deaths.

R.A.F,- officers were shot dead on March 25, attempting to escape near Dresden. For Squadron-Leader Roger Bushell, one of the victims, who in peace-time was a London barrister and a Hendon pageant aerobat, A was the third attempt to escape. Bushell, the first time, got within a few yards of the Swiss frontier. The second time he was free for eight months, when it is believed he reached Czechoslovakia, before being recaptured.
