Senator Joseph Ball announced that he intended to nominate LieutenantCommander Harold Stassen for the Presidency,, at the Republican National Convention, thus shattering hopes of Mr. Dewey’s sunporters that the latter’s name would be the only one placed before the Convention. K.enator Ball explained he wanted to give the Convention an opportunity to express approval of the principle of peace through international organisation, for which cause Lieut.-Command-er Stassen has been an outspoken proponent.
