Bishop O’Leary, his superior, has lifted the suspension which was imposed on a Polish-American priest, Father Orelmanski, following his recently going to Moscow and visiting M. Stalin and M. Molotov. When he returned to the United States from Moscow, Father Orelmanski was directed to retire to a monastery, because he absented himself from his parish without the permission of his superior, Bishop O’Leary, whose spokesman, Father Shea, stated the Church authorities were still officially unaware and largely unconcerned •with the nature of Father Orelmanski’s conversations with Mr. Stalin and M. Molotov. He pointed out that Father Orelmanski was able to dispatch any information or documents to the Holy See through (the Apostolic Delegate in Washington, Bishop O’Leary has lifted Father Orelmanski’s suspension upon receiving a written apology from Father Orelmanski.

In his letter. Father Orlemanski said: “I regret, my seeming disregard for my Church’s legislation and its directions. I hasten to apologise for my lack of respect for the Ecclesiastical authorities, which could be inferred from mv absence. It is now m-y fixed purpose to promise to cease and separate myself from all activities which are not in accord with the rule and mmd of the Catholic Church. “I also wish to make it known that the Springfield Chancery Office has notified me that my message to the Apostolic Delegate, which merely contained questions and answers that already have been printed throughout America, was received at the Apostolic Delegation, and that mv message will be given consideration, and will be referred bv the Apostolic Delegate to the proper Church authorities.”
