No Notable Change OPERATIONS LOCALISED. LONDON, May 17. A Moscow communique again reported -no material changes along the front. A Russian air communique said: Our planes yesterday raided the rail junction of Polotsk, and bombed stores, war -material and trains, starting fires.' Seven explosions were observed. Nineteen enemy planes were shot down on MonReuter’s Moscow correspondent says that such battles as are now being fought are a flare-up from small incidents. The Russians seized a useful hill in one sector Bitter fighting developed, in which the Gelmans were driven’ back, losing 700 men and 14 tanks. . The present operations m the Carpathians are reported to be of the small-sicale “Red Indian” type oi warfare. Berlin commentators warn tine Germans that the Red Army is likely to launch an offensive soon. The German News Agency’s military commentator, reporting continuous massing of Russians near Lwow, Kowel and the Middle Seret, said: “German quarters expect the Russians will resume large-scale attacks in these sectors in the very near future.” . , The Berlin radio reporter said the Russians are making far-reaching preparations for a renewal of the offensive on the central front. MORE GERMAN ATTACKS ’ REPULSED NEAR TYRASPOL. (Rec. 7.40.'. LONDON, May 17. A Russian supplementary communique states: North-west of Tyraspol, Soviet forces have repelled repeated enemy attacks. They inflicted heavy losses. On the Leningrad front we shot down fifteen German ’planes. . A large enemy formation of aircraft attempted to bomb our lines there.
