50-TON SHELL
SECRET ENEMY WEAPON ’ Factory Attacked BY R.A.F. RAIDERS (Rec. 1.10) NEW YORK, Dec. 23. A “Reader’s Digest” correspondent, Mr Allan Michie, on his arrival from London, said: The Allies know enough about Germany’s latest secret weapon to regard it as no blun, and they have its factory already under fire. He added: Officials have been gathering information from refugees and agents for five months. They do not know all of the details, 'but they are reasonably sure that it is a projectile of the rocket type, and that it weighs approximately 50 tons. Forty tons of this comprises nropulsion materials, and ten tons .are explosive. The projectile can be shot from the French, coast to England. It may cause havoc for a short time, but it can only delay, but not change the outcome of the war. w Mr Mitchie added: The R.A.F. raided a hitherto unimportant German town, Peenemund. They killed 5000 workmen, including hundreds of highly skilled artisans, also destroying blueprints and important machinery. “The secret weapon has not vet been used,” said Mr Mitchie. “You must draw your own inference.”
