BRAZIL’S ARMY
To Fight in Europe CORPS LEAVING FOR NORTH AFRICA. [Aust. N.Z. Press Assn.l (Rec. 7.15) LONDON, Dec. 12. Thirteen Brazilian Army officers, headed by General Demoraes, have arrived in North Africa to arrange for the reception of a Brazilian Expeditionary Corps there. General Demoraes is shortly returning to Brazil to arrange’ for the embarkation of the units. General Demoraes has disclosed that Brazil is sending Air Force units and ground staff to serve at the discretion of the Allied Com-mander-in-Chief, either in Europe or in North Africa. He said that the Brazilian units would retain their identity. They will serve under their Brazilian colours.
Several members of the Brazilian advance party will remain at the Allied headquarters to prepare for the arrival of the Brazilians. Others will tour the Mediterranean.
Major-General Ord, the Chairman of the American-Brazil Defence Commission, said that Brazilian Army equipment is being standardised. It is largely comprised of American artillery and medium heavy tanks, also and bomber planes.
Colonel Secco, of the Brazilian Air Force, accompanied Gen. Demoraes.
