ROCKET TORPEDOES
German Air Defence Weapon NOT TO BE DESPISED. (Rec. 8.15) NEW YORK, Dec. 12. Colonel Deserversky in an article in the “New York Times” says: The current tendency of underrating and even of ridiculing German rocket torpedoes is extremely unwise. Facesaving can lead only to further unpleasant surprises. The fact is that, since the Germans sprang the rocket torpedo, and took such a heavy! toll of bombers at Schweinfurt, we nave not made any deep naylight penetrations into Germany. We have been compelled to expand enormously our fighter protection, and to equip our figuters with dropable tanks so as to extend their range. It. is true that the German rocket torpedoes, at present, are attached outside of the planes,, thereby hindering their performance, but it would he tool hardy to assume that the Germans will not be revising their plans to house these torpedoes inside of the planes.
