U.S.A. POPULATION

(Rec. 9.50) WASHINGTON, July 15. The resident population of the United States last December reached one hundred and thirty nine million 950 thousand. This represented an increase of one point seven per cent over the census taken in April, 1940. The growth of the resident population slackened with a progressively, larger movement of service men from America. Thus most of the increase occurred before the Pearl Harbour attack.
