EGG MARKETING
WIDER POWERS GIVEN p.A. WELLINGTON, March 25. Considerably wider powers in the control end marketing of eggs are granted the Minister of Marketing t:y an amendment to the Egg Marketing Emergency Regulations gazetted tonight. Under the former regulations the Minister was authorised to control the sale and purchase of eggs m soecial egg marketing areas. but. now his authority in this direction will extend to any? part of New Zealand. For instance if eggs are required for the armed forces or. other purposes at Auckland or Wellington the Minister can require that egg producing districts in any part oi the country should forward their quota to meet the demand. Another provision designed to stop black marketing gives the Minister or any of his representat'ves in the Internal Marketing Division power to demand that the owners of eggs should reveal their source of production. The Internal Marketing Divis-. ion will be empowered to direct egg supplies through channels whereby they will reach the armed forces or the general public, and a penalty clause is also included in the reguLu tions making it an offence for owners of eggs to refuse to supply information regarding the sources of production or to give wrong information in that respect
