BRUNNER NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent). Anzac Day was celebrated in the Brunner district with a special service and parade. The parade formed. up at Dobson, at 10.30 a.m., and mdrehed to the Wallsend Hall. Taking part in it were Returned Soldiers, the Women’s War Service Auxiliary Home Guard, and E.P.S. It led by the Brunner 'Brass Band. The Mayor, Mr J. Smeaton, presided at the service, and, in an opening address, commented upon the futility of wars, unless something could be achieved different to what, hail prevailed since the last war. The Salvation Army Captain offered up a prayer in a most eloquent manner. Mr R. R. Smith, representing the Church of England, read the lesson, and Rev. Horwell, of the Presbyterian Church, gave an address which was both interesting and inspiring, ' Miss Ursula Fentiman sank two sacred solos in a most pleasing way. It had been fifteen years since the Anzac Day service had been held in the district, but since a desire had been expressed, there is every possibility of it being continued in future years. About two hundred were present, and greatly appreciated the service. The Band supplied music for the parade and service, and acquitted them-
