SUPPLIES TO CHINA
Going by U.S. Aircraft LONDON, April 26. The ißritish Associated Press correspondent at New Delhi, India, says: The air transport service branch of th% United States Air Force is supplying China with an increasing amount of goods. Previously such goods were carried over the Burma Road. The service will be delivering many thousands of tons monthly by the Autumn, when it may equal the capacity of the old Burma Road. Goods at present being carried include small arms, ammunition, tools, machinery, and medical supplies. A member of the American Service stated that the bulk of American supplies accumulated in Rangoon harbour were removed before the Japanese occupation of Rangoon and were strung along th'e Burma Road in a relay system out of reach of the Japanese advance parties. An air goods service was being maintained in the face of great difficulties. The material had to be flown over mountains from 14 to 18 thousand feet high, where the air currents and down draughts were terrific during the monsoon periods.
