The French ' Ambassador, Mr. Henry Haye, protesting at the seizure of French ships recently by America told Senator Hull 1 rance would resist any attempt to take either French West Indies islands or Dciksr WASHINGTON, May 21. It is reported that the Secretary of State, Senator Hull, told M. Henry Haye (the French Ambassador), /that there would not be satisfactory relations between France and peaceful nations until the Government of Vichy proved that it was not under German domination. Senator Hull told Mr. Haye: “All nations are satisfied that pro-Hitler elements control the Vichy Government, and that it is up to the French to show that this impression is incorrect.” PROTEST AGAINST TERRITORY SEIZURES. TOKIO, May 20. Newspapers claimed that the United States strongly warned the French Indo-China Government not to follow the lead by the Vichy Government towards the Axis. “Yomiuri” declared the warning was-an expression of American antipathy towards Vichy, and also an attempt to disturb the Japanese-Indo-China rapprochement. WASHINGTON, May 20. Mr. Hull denied the statement by •the “Yomiuri,” alleging the United States sent a strong note to Indo Chinal, warning against alignment with the Axis. The French Ambassador informed Mr. Hull that France would resist any attempt to take over any part of her Empire anywhere. He protested against the United States’ action in placing coastguards on French ships. FRENCH TENSION! LONDON, May 21. Admiral Darlan has warned ceitain civilian mayors, magistrates and other public servants not to obstruct the inauguration of the New Order of administration of France. Tension is reported. French Cabinet FIRST MEETING IN PARIS. LONDON, May 21. The Berlin News Agency states that the Vichy Cabinet met in Paris for the first time on Monday mgnt. Admiral Darlan presided. The Vichy radio states Admiral Darlan dismissed Henri SelHer. Mayor of Suresnes in the Seine Department for which he- is also Senator, because of open hostility to the work of national renovation. Similar steps were taken against all municipal, officers who were hostile to Marshal Petain. GERMAN COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF. VISIT TO PARIS.
