OVER INCOME TAX

T. C. TRAUTWEIN SENTENCED

(Received April 16, 10.50 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 16

As the sequel to protracted litigation with the Taxation Department, Theodore Charles Trautwein, aged 72, hotel proprietor, and a prominent racing identity, was to-day sentenced to one year’s imprisonment. There was an agreement with the Federal Taxation Department, under which Trautwein was privileged to pay off heavy indebtedness by comparatively small instalments. He was to-day charged with making an untrue representation concerning this agreement.

A Stipendiary Magistrate to-day refused to suspend the sentence, but notice of .appeal was . given.
