Lord Mottistone, whe is Chairman, of-the “National Savings Movement,”, announced on Wednesday that the total raised by the campaign now exceeded forty million po.unds. He said that he could not support the proposal that compulsory savings should be introduced. He said: “I am quite sure that it is far better for the savings of the people to be the result of their own voluntary effort.” (Received January 4, 9 pan.) LONDON, January 3. The “Daily Mail” says: “Summer time is expected to operate in Britain again in the middle of February. It will be of first-class importance in the national war effort, enabling a greater output from factories. It will also facilitate transport, relieve ; the strain on nerves fr.om the long blackout and reduce the road deaths. “LORD HAW-HAW,” [British .Official Wireless] RUGBY, January 3. The commentator facetiously known as “Lord. Haw Haw,” owing to his mannerisms, Who nightly addresses the English public from the German radio station, and whose comments on affairs are mainly distinguished by grotesque misrepresentations, last', night made himself responsible for the following observation: “Sabotage in Czechoslovakian factories is due to the evil influence of;British Boy, Scouts. This is the conclusion of Yugoslav observers, which is • being freely mentioned in Belgrade. They point out that companies of these alleged Boy Scouts were accustomed to camp in areas where sabotage occurred, and they took advantage of the opportunity to spread anti-Ger-man feeling among the local population.
